Plot
Mary and Max is a amazing movie and Adam Elliot’s greatest success yet. Mary and Max still offers Elliot’s trademark a little bit repulsive yet simple graphic style and droll strategy to storytelling but now with more anticipating the dynamism and complexness. The movie covers 20 years but only examines the life of its two figures – Mary Daisy Dinkle (voiced by Toni Collette) and Max Jerry Horovitz (voiced by Philip Seymour Hoffman). Mary is a sad 8-year-old lady residing in the suburbs of Melbourne. Bullied at school and ignored by her mother and father, Mary’s loneliness is put when she starts a pen friendship with Max, a 44 year-old-man with an eating disorders and Asperger’s Syndrome who live in New York. It’s a regularly strong connection as the curious characteristics of Mary characters often set off Max’s anxiety problem but gradually the couple learn how to handle their communication so that they can each stay the source of joy for the other in otherwise unhappy life.
